1. Distinguishing if the topic is truly research, quality/process improvement, or an Evidence-based practice project
2. Taking the client’s idea and solidifying it into a firm research question with measurable study aims
3. Identifying appropriate data collections tools
4. Going over basic statistics and discussing the appropriate statistical method for the research study
5. Constructing the framework of the research proposal.
6. Reviewing possible funding sources or other means to support the client’s proposed study
7. Ensuring that the client has a good scientific review plan in place.
8. Preparing for and participating in a mock Institutional Review Board review
9. Formulating a good research management plan
